ILLIT's BREAK EVEN Comeback: Release Time, Title Track and What the Teasers Reveal
ILLIT's fifth mini album, BREAK EVEN, arrives on October 26 at 6 p.m. KST with four tracks, led by the title track "You're Under Arrest." The group already performed the title track at its Incheon encore concerts on October 17 and 18, and music video teasers are scheduled for October 23 and 25.
What We Know About BREAK EVEN
BREAK EVEN is ILLIT's fifth mini album, announced by BELIFT LAB on September 14 and set for release on October 26 at 6 p.m. KST. It has four tracks: "Super in Love," "More," "You're Under Arrest" and "Pop," with "You're Under Arrest" as the title track. The album's idea comes from the accounting term for the point where gains and losses cancel out, and the group's framing is that it will no longer invest its time and heart in relationships that do not give back what it puts in.
That is a sharper premise than a typical crush song, and it explains the title track's police-themed styling: a playful way to say that a lukewarm partner is about to be called out.
The Calendar: Teasers and Release Day
BELIFT LAB published the rollout as a receipt-style promotion calendar. The tracklist and the first concept film came on September 28, a teasing video on October 5, and three more concept looks on October 6, 12 and 15. The PRESS START encore concerts followed on October 17 and 18, music video teaser 1 for "You're Under Arrest" is dated October 23, teaser 2 is dated October 25, and the album and music video release together on October 26.
That ordering matters. The title track had a live debut before a single frame of its music video was out, so by release day the choreography is already familiar to anyone who watched the encore.
Four Looks: BURNING, GLLIT, QUIET and MAD
The concept work runs through four visual moods. "BURNING" opened the campaign with individual films for Minju, Yunah, Iroha and Wonhee. "GLLIT" followed on October 6, "QUIET" on October 12 and "MAD" on October 15, each swapping the group's look and temperature: from heated to hushed to defiant.
The album also has its own short teasing videos for "Pop," "More" and "Super in Love," so the full tracklist has been previewed in pieces before listeners hear it whole. If you want a map of the record before it lands, start with the four looks and the three track teasers.
The Title Track Has Already Been on Stage
ILLIT performed "You're Under Arrest" in full at ILLIT LIVE "PRESS START" ENCORE in KOREA, held at Incheon Inspire Arena on October 17 and 18. The stage used whistle props, and fans joined in on the second day. The encore followed an Asian tour that ran from March to August, and the tour finale is set for Japan in December. At the show, the members said the group is always five members, and Moka, who has been on a break, joined the audience and took part in the dance challenge.
ILLIT is also on the first lineup of the MAMA AWARDS in Osaka on November 20. If you are planning around year-end stages in Seoul, our K-pop December concerts guide covers the award shows and how to get tickets, and for another young group in a comeback season, see Hearts2Hearts' ICONIC HEART era.
Sori's Note
ILLIT built its name on sugar-sweet crushes, so the most interesting choice here is the vocabulary. "Break even" is an accountant's phrase and "under arrest" is a police one. A comeback that turns heartbreak into bookkeeping and a siren gives the group a sharper attitude while keeping the playful color.
Debuting the stage before the video is a tidy trick too: it lets the choreography, not the teaser, announce the song. Whatever release week brings, the wish from here is simple: that Moka regains her health soon, and that the five can be on stage together again.
