Which K-Dramas Based on Webtoons Are Coming Next?
This list is updated at the same address whenever a broadcaster or streamer confirms a new date.
A webtoon drama is a television series adapted from a webtoon, the Korean digital comic read by vertical scroll on a phone. Many of these stories begin one step earlier, as a web novel: prose fiction published in short chapters on platforms such as Naver Series and Kakao Page, then turned into a webtoon once it finds readers. This guide covers both, and lists only titles whose source is officially credited as a webtoon or a web novel, with dates confirmed by the broadcaster or streamer.
| Drama | Original story | Where to watch | Release |
|---|---|---|---|
| Take Charge of My Heart | Web novel Charge Me Up (Naver Series) | Netflix | October 9, all 10 episodes out |
| Love in Disguise | Web novel and webtoon Why Don't You Know She's a Woman? (Kakao Page, Kakao Webtoon) | tvN; Prime Video outside Korea | Airing since October 19, Mondays and Tuesdays |
| The Remarried Empress | Web novel (Naver Series) and webtoon (Naver Webtoon) of the same name | Disney+ | November 4 to November 25, every Wednesday |
| One-of-a-Kind Romance | Naver Webtoon of the same name | TVING | November 9, 6 p.m. KST |
| What a Boss Wants | Naver web novel and webtoon of the same name | MBN | November 11, 10:20 p.m. KST |
| GIFT | Kakao Webtoon of the same name | tvN; TVING in Korea | December 5, 9:10 p.m. KST |
| Solo Leveling | Web novel and webtoon of the same name (Kakao Page) | Netflix | Not announced |
| Portraits of Delusion | Naver Webtoon Delusion (Hyeonhok) | Disney+ | Not announced |
| Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid | Naver Webtoon Whale Star (Goraebyeol) | tvN | 2027, exact date not announced |
Six of these are already on screen or have a date. Take Charge of My Heart has been streaming on Netflix since October 9, Love in Disguise has aired on tvN and Prime Video since October 19, and The Remarried Empress arrived on Disney+ on November 4. Next comes One-of-a-Kind Romance on TVING on November 9 at 6 p.m. KST, followed by What a Boss Wants on MBN on November 11 at 10:20 p.m. KST. Then GIFT arrives on tvN on December 5 at 9:10 p.m. KST. Solo Leveling, Portraits of Delusion and Whale Star are still waiting for release dates, and Whale Star is slated for 2027.
Which Webtoon Dramas Can You Watch Right Now?
Take Charge of My Heart (Netflix). All 10 episodes have been streaming since October 9. Kim Young-kwang plays an heir who lives with an artificial heart, and Chae Soo-bin plays a screenwriter whose body carries an electric current, which happens to be the one thing that can recharge him. Many viewers search for it as a webtoon, but Netflix credits a web novel: Charge Me Up by Haebeon, serialized on Naver Series from 2020. Our guide to the web novel behind Take Charge of My Heart explains the difference.
Love in Disguise (tvN, Prime Video). Yim Si-wan plays a chaebol heir suspected of murder, and Seol In-ah plays the detective who goes undercover as his male secretary. The 12-episode series airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN, also streams on TVING in Korea, and is on Prime Video elsewhere, so it runs through late November. The source began as a Kakao Page web novel by Lee A-hyun and Ryu Do-ha before One Punch Rabbit drew the webtoon. More on the story and the cast is in our Love in Disguise guide.
The Remarried Empress (Disney+). The first four episodes arrived on November 4, and two more follow every Wednesday until the finale on November 25, ten episodes in all. In the United States it also streams on Hulu. Shin Min-a plays Empress Navier, Ju Ji-hoon plays Emperor Sovieshu, Lee Jong-suk plays Prince Heinrey and Lee Se-young plays Rashta. The story started as Alphatart's web novel on Naver Series in 2018, and the Naver Webtoon version drawn by Sumpul followed in 2019. For the full release schedule and who plays whom, see our guide to The Remarried Empress on Disney+. Each Wednesday's episodes are listed in our episode release schedule.
Three platforms, three different release rhythms: Netflix released everything at once, tvN airs two episodes a week, and Disney+ opened with four and then settled into a weekly pair. If you prefer to binge, start with Take Charge of My Heart; if you like to discuss each episode as it lands, the other two are built for that.
What Premieres in November?
One-of-a-Kind Romance (TVING), Monday, November 9, 6 p.m. KST. This 12-episode romantic comedy adapts the Naver Webtoon of the same name by the artist Dooboo. Joy of Red Velvet, credited under her real name Park Soo-young, plays Gong Yu-il, a job seeker who stays cheerful through one setback after another, and Kim Hyun-jin plays Tak Mu-yi, a celebrity hiding old wounds behind his public image. Shin Hyun-soo and Kang Na-eon complete the main cast. Kim Jin-young directs from a script by Jeon Hyun-mi. TVING streams it in Korea; outside Korea, it is on Viu in parts of Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and on ABEMA in Japan.
What a Boss Wants (MBN), Wednesday, November 11, 10:20 p.m. KST. MBN's new Wednesday-Thursday drama, also 12 episodes, adapts a Naver web novel of the same name that was later turned into a webtoon. Sung Hoon plays Kwon Do-hyuk, a chaebol executive who has everything except sleep, and Oh Se-young plays Lee Eun-chae, a job seeker by day and an indie band vocalist by night. The production team has said it kept the original's central relationship while adding new family and band storylines; the contract between the two leads, for example, runs three months in the drama instead of one month in the original.
Put the two side by side and you can see why romance webtoons remain a favorite source: both premieres are built on a clear hook, a fan and a star in one, a fake relationship in the other, and both run to a compact 12 episodes, which suits the length of the original stories.
Which Webtoon Dramas Are Still Waiting for a Release Date?
Solo Leveling (Netflix). Netflix has officially announced a Korean live-action series of Solo Leveling, the fantasy story that began as Chugong's web novel and grew into a global webtoon hit on Kakao Page. Byeon Woo-seok plays Sung Jin-woo, the weakest hunter who finds a way to level up, and the series is produced by Kakao Entertainment and SANAI Pictures. Netflix has not announced a release date. Some reports point to 2027, but until Netflix confirms it, treat that as a target rather than a date.
Portraits of Delusion (Disney+). This Disney+ original adapts Delusion, known in Korean as Hyeonhok, a Naver Webtoon by Hongjacga first serialized in 2019. Set in Gyeongseong, as Seoul was called in 1935, it follows a painter, Yoon I-ho (Kim Seon-ho), who is commissioned to paint the mysterious Song Jeong-hwa (Suzy). Han Jae-rim directs. Disney+ had said the series would arrive in the second half of 2026, but as of November 6 no specific date had been announced.
Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid (tvN). Na Yoon-hee's Naver Webtoon Goraebyeol, serialized from 2019 to 2021, won the Presidential Award at the 2021 Korea Content Awards. tvN has confirmed the drama for 2027. Choi Woo-shik and Moon Ga-young lead, with Heo Nam-jun and Gong Seung-yeon, and Heo Jin-ho and Yoo Beom-sang co-direct for Studio Dragon and TakeOne Studio. The story, a reimagining of The Little Mermaid, is set in 1926 and follows young people in the independence movement. The title is still listed as tentative in some announcements.
This is the part of the list most likely to change. When any of these three gets a premiere date, it moves up into the schedule above.
Which Dramas Are Often Mistaken for Webtoon Adaptations?
Because so many hits start as webtoons, almost every new Korean series gets searched as one. Two titles this season are not.
Dead-End Job (Netflix). The eight-episode horror series that arrived on October 30 is a Netflix original written by Kyung Min-sun and Lee Shin-ji, not an adaptation. Its Korean title, Kkul-alba, is slang for a "honey job," an easy and well-paid gig, which is what the story turns inside out. Our piece on whether Dead-End Job is based on a webtoon goes into the title and the premise.
The Blue Road (Netflix). This Korea–Japan crime thriller, starring Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama, does have a comic behind it, but not a webtoon. It adapts Blue Road (Pureun-gil), a five-volume print manhwa drawn by Kwon Ka-ya and written by Keishi Edogawa, published between 2002 and 2004. All eight episodes arrive on Friday, November 20, at 5 p.m. KST. The full story of that comic is in our guide to The Blue Road's original comic.
If you want to check a title yourself, look at the opening or closing credits, or at the streamer's own announcement. An adaptation credits its original work by name, and that line is the most reliable answer to the webtoon question. If the drama sends you looking for something to read next, our list of Korean webtoons to read next is a good place to start.
Sori's Note
Before a webtoon drama airs a single scene, it has already been reviewed, in a way. Korean webtoon chapters end in a comment section, and the comments readers vote to the top become a running record of what they love: a line they quote back, a character they defend, the exact moment they want to see on screen. When a casting is announced, those same threads light up with a single question: does this actor sound like the character we have been hearing in our heads for years?
So if you want to know what a new adaptation has to get right, read the last few chapters of the original first. The scenes fans keep quoting are the ones the drama will be judged on.
